In Animal Whisperers: Tokitae by E.O. Worth, we read about Kai and Irma who are best friends and attended Gaia Discovery School. They both went on a special fifth-grade trip to the San Juan Islands. On the last day, Kai dived into the ocean and swam with the largest dolphin named Blackfish. Everyone shouted for him to get back on the boat, but he kept swimming. Irma spent the summer having fun and playing with her friends. She was worried about Kai and prayed for his safe return. They both realized they could understand what animals are thinking. Mr. Ventura took the children to visit the captive orca, Tokitae, at the sea aquarium. The children had different opinions about the animals in the aquarium. Some felt they should not be held captive, while others felt the rehabilitation center helps get the animals ready to be released into their natural habitat. Mr. Ventura, the children, and their parents worked together to create a natural sea pen for the animals.

Something magical happens to Kai and his friend Irma on their fifth-grade field trip. When Kai hears a whisper, he throws himself into the sea and starts swimming with the dolphins. He does not hear the cries of the adults accompanying him and does not come back. That same evening, while Irma is taking a bath, she realizes she can communicate with her cat, who lets her know that Kai is safe with the dolphins. This is how the two friends discover that they are able to communicate with animals. When Kai returns, he and Irma go on another field trip to visit the captive orca Tokitae. At this point, they have a fantastic idea. Find out more by reading Animal Whisperers by E. O. Worth.- Readers Favorite

In the adventure-filled picture book Animal Whisperers: Tokitae by E.O. Worth, two friends who have the ability to communicate with animals help raise awareness about the conditions of wild animals living in captivity. During their fifth-grade trip, Kai jumps from their boat to swim with the dolphins in the waters close to them and disappears. Though his friend, Irma, is involved in other activities when the class gets back, she misses him. Later, the two friends are reunited and they learn they both have telepathic animal communication abilities. They visit Tokitae, an orca living in captivity, and learn about her plight. Through their special abilities, the friends are able to help her. Together with their school, the children bring attention to the topic of animal captivity and develop long-lasting solutions that help the wild animals thrive and also receive medical care when they need it. -Readers Favorite

Animal Whisperers was a pleasure to read. I feel the book will prove to be extremely useful in teaching children about the environment because it shows how important it is for us to look after wildlife. Animals aren't meant to be kept in cages or confined spaces that they aren't used to, as it can damage their health significantly and shorten their lifespans. We need to use tales like this to teach the new generation a different approach to help them survive. I loved the main characters and the storyline is beautiful and inspiring. The illustrations are professional, and creative and help bring the theme to life. E.O. Worth has done a great job at creating an adorable, yet important book for children and I hope similar books will follow.
